Periodically I complete my goal calibration. I review what I want to accomplish in 8 areas of my life including career, marriage, family, spiritual, health, etc.. Without fail, when I get clear about what I want, I become less reactive to others. When I tend to myself first, I am able to see others as separate, also pursuing their own paths and working alongside them I am free to pursue my own goals. I care less about their opinion, see them more clearly as individuals with their own agenda, needs, hurts, and wants. I get disentangled from others and become free to collaborate.

It is easier for me to be compassionate and to be empathetic. In a similar way, when I clarify my daily to dos, the noise in my head settles. And, as a friend of mine says, when he writes down what you want to accomplish, the world rises to support him. When he clarifies, he reports - just by deciding to watch something - he accomplishes it.

As a starting point in leadership coaching I review your goals with you. What do you want? Once you clarify that, you too are free to see others independent actors. The little resentments in your head settle and you rally your immense power to accomplish what is most important.
